    UPDATE: New photos added

This is quite a rare and beautiful thing. The shape and decor are documented in Loetz Austria Glass 1905-1918, by Waltraud Neuwirth. In the book there is a photograph of a vase like this one (sans metal mount) that was presented to the Landesmuseum (State Museum) in Linz - a gift of Maximilian von Spaun, ca. 1910. That one has an original label showing the production number, 4615. The shape is documented in Loetz Series II - the Paper Patterns, by Jitka Lnenickova (see last photo). The decor and its name are drawn directly on the paper pattern - a series of internal diagonal leaf green and steel gray threads that encircle the piece. It is always nice to have a vase in the shape that the decor was designed for; hence, Titania Genre 4615; PN II-4615. The thickness of the opal layer is markedly stronger at the top, and fades into a very pale milky green towards the bottom. I didn't find this piece myself - my friend Andy Jelcic did, and he graciously allowed me to acquire it from him - so huge thanks go out to Andy!
