This HUGE 1930's Art Deco/Art Nouveau Bronze Nudes & Automobile Plaque is signed E.(doudard) Fraisse. The scene depicts two nude women bending on their knees while holding an automobile (looks to me like a Duesenberg?) on a platter above their heads. There are piles of what look like coins surrounding the two women.
This exquisite plaque comes in a red velvet lined presentation case with tiny hooks to hold it in place.
Measurements are: 10 1/4" long x 7 3/8" wide x 1/4" thick.
The artist/sculptor (1880 - 1945) was quite well known for designing sports-related plaques and medals (and the occasional trophy), but the normal size of such plaques was around 3 - 4 inches and this one, which I've not been able to locate anywhere on the internet including past sale records, is almost 10 1/2 long.
Thanks for looking!
That's a striking beauty for sure!
Hope someone can help with id :-)
Thanks Kyratamgo, but don't need help with the id as it's signed, in the bronze, "E. Fraisse". Edouard Fraisse (1880 - 1945) was a well known designer of Art Deco bronze medals and plaques- mostly sports-related themes.
He signed this on the upper right about an inch above the upraised hands of the lady. It's a bit difficult to see on these pics, but I don't have a sharp close up....
Yes, I thought you were looking for the event, or particular occasion, it was comissioned for :-D
Ah, gotcha...!
