I received a (favorable) comment in an earlier post about Desert Sands mentioning that seeing a lot of this pottery for sale on shelves in the 1970s was "a turn off" and I have to agree. It did seem tacky and completely anachronistic to the sensibilities of the time. The passing of that time has been kind to shelves full of Desert Sands and now it has a little more charm. Hopefully this will stir up some of those 1970s truck stop memories.
This is one of several cabinets full of Desert Sands Pottery here -frightening, huh? The small pieces can still be purchased quite cheaply but anything large or unusual is starting to attract serious money.
Now, where are those birds that dip their beaks in water & always move up & down? LOL !!
It's amazing how we see things now that seemed not quite right in their time.
This collection looks spectacular.
wow! i'm really impressed!
On closer examination, this is really beautiful stuff.
Thanks bb - all seriousness aside, you might notice on close examination there's a Super Ball sitting in the pile.
Thanks to everyone for the love and comments.
