Any help identifying the age, make, model, type etc on this trunk would be helpful. I acquired this from someone who said they thought it was at least 40 yrs old.

Hi dazzler, yeah a little older the 40 yrs. probably from around 1890 to 1910, unless it has a makers label in it, very hard to say who made it. This is a round or dome top cross slat trunk, pat. in 1880, it had what they called a crystallized tin finish and it came in many colors but gold was the most common. Very nice looking trunk and in very good condition

I believe this to be the 1880 latch hardware patent.

Sorry,I do apologize, the previous image that I posted is very incorrect.

I believe this to be the 1880 latch hardware, which is quite unique

Thks would the latch hardware be rare ie hard to find on trunks like this?
    8. Drill Drill, 8 years ago
I would not say rare ,as I have seen it multiple times before. I would say less common though and much harder to replace. The same goes for the handle covers
( that pattern) as well as the slat corner hardware. The horse and rider lithograph is not one that is often seen and to me desirable .It is nice to see that the interior tray compartments are "generally in tact."Although they are in need of some love. The trunk has "good bones" Thank goodness it is all there. Thanks for sharing the post and much luck!
