A nice Tin Cigar Box found at the Flea today for $1.00 ! :^) It says HUMO in a large oval on the top of the 9" long, 5 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" high box, with All Quality in script on the side of the top. It has a paper label that wraps from the back to the bottom that reads MAZER CIGAR MFG. CO. on the top of the back, with different manufacturing plants with 1910's to 1920's cars parked in front of them. On the bottom wrap around part of the paper label it says FACTORY NO. 261, FIRST DISTRICT, MICH., and a notice about the tax stamp. The green tax stamp seal from top to front is torn but complete and reads 50 CIGARS 50 * CLASS B * ACT OF 19?? SERIES OF 1917 in 3 lines graduated large to smaller. The bottom of the box has FACTORY NO. 261 * 5C * 1ST DIST. MICH. stamped into the tin, in 3 lines. The inside top is marked 2 * FOR * 15c in a round paper label in the left side top corner, and All Quality in script, then HUMO then Mild & Sweet, in 3 lines. A banner that continues on all edges over and over, reads, HAND MADE * HUMO * LONG FILLER.
I liked the look of the box, and have never seen a tin cigar box, so that and the 1 dollar price, I couldn't pass it by. :^)
Thanks for looking, and the loves, and likes! :^) always appreciated!
