At 7 5/8" wide across this is a fairy small chamber pot but not quite as small as the one in my vintage training chair. It could be child size or perhaps for a guest bed room. But at least with this you don't have to go outside on a cold night to use the outhouse. You or perhaps a servant could empty it into the outhouse in the morning.
It is a nice pattern and would be quite attractive when it has not been used.
Likely this is around a 100 years old. Later versions were solid color and indoor plumbing was much more common after the early 20th century.
On farms a lot of the farms did not even get plumbing until mid to later 60's so they were used till mid century.
A great piece I inherited one of these adult size in 1984 from my Nanna. Circa 1920's It lived in the bedside pedestal cabinet because the " loo" was outside " up the yard" in those days.
Thank you very much Phil. The solid color pieces were still being made in the 1950s. In Alaska They are still used in cabins.
Thank you very much Victoriarose. I have an adult chair for this too.
