This is my first post on here. I've been collecting trunks for a few years and refinished a few. I found this Martin Maier recently and it immediately went into my collection. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. It's been stained at some point but they did a great job. I put a liner on the inside just so we could use it.

This trunk has wonderful features, I would loved to have seen this trunk in it's
heyday with the leather still on it. That would have made my day even more.Thanks for the post.

Hi Josh and welcome. Nice Martin Maier trunk you found. It was probably a leather covered trunk originally. I love the MM trunks and have a few in my collection too and it doesn't hurt that the MM is also my initials...;-).

Thanks for the comments. TrunkerMarvin, you're right on the leather. You can still see it under the slats. Having MM initials is just cheating. Unfortunately, there's a nail head that looks like an "o" between the M's so my kids call it my "MoM" trunk.
Great trunk! - I have a similar one done in tin - the hardware shines up nicely. Gotta love the quality of these....
