I recently acquired this strange naval cap. I have no idea what it is. Maybe a yachting club? The letters S.M.R. are just barely discernible. I would appreciate any input.

Are there markings inside the cap, & if so, why didn't you show them ?

I don't think the badge necessarily belongs to the cap, as the cap has a much less abraded look. The badge is considerably more worn and damaged. It might have been put together at a much later date. I'll post a picture of the inside later on.
