I don't know much about different sorts of wood, but liked this box just for what it is. The woman I bought it from told me it belonged to her grandmother. Quite well made with nice veneer. I need to clean off the lining and it will be ready for me to use.
I think it will become another jewelry box. I need another jewelry box. Or less jewelry. (Not gonna happen, lol!)

This box is a real beauty!! I especially love the burlwood top and that incredible trim work. Beautiful craftsmanship in this piece. Wonderful find!!!
