This was the fist German Visor that I bought and it's a fairly rare one. This is a German Luftwaffe, "Air Force" Pilot officer visor cap and the owners name was Kramer. This is indicated by the silver chin strap and the yellow piping. This cap is very warn and has a lot of moth damage but is still very nice. It is also a crusher cap.
Have you done any research on the pilot ? Never seen a case for the glasses. Little bit of damage, but surely no more in the future. Nice piece & I'm impressed. I've never collected the visor caps, - but am quite familiar with the MP-38/40. LOL
I too noticed the MP 40 (or 38). Even the nonworking replicas of those are fun.
Fort, the real ones are a whole lot of fun !
I tried researching the pilot and found nothing unfortunately, and I wish the MP40 was real.
This one seems a bit hybrid, as the yellow piping suggests enlisted or nco rank, while the silver chin cord belongs to an officer's cap.
Holsch, since you are Dutch, did you see the German helmet on Evilbay (military hats & caps) with the Dutch wolfsangle shield ? It sold last week for $370. I almost bid on it & thought it would bring more since they were SS. What was your opinion on it ?
