This Loetz Olympia Glatt vase décor dates back to 1896. The light green base glass has a wonderful metallic iridescence in purples and golds. It stands about 10" tall and is about 3.5" at the base. The rim has been genlty flared into a triangular shape and is flame polished, as is the pontil on the equilateral triangular base. All of the action occurs between the rim and the base, where the artisan gave the object a full 360 degree twist. One of the nicer examples of Olympia that I've seen, and I'm proud to display it on the top shelf :-)

What a great shape and the first time that I have seen a real example of a production in the paper pattern I-6696. I'd like to add a photo of this one on the site if that is okay with you.

Great peace Bob! I love the shape as it has more twists than I've typically seen on these type of vases.

Agreed Rick, that glass blower 120 years ago must have had a very steady hand!
