I bought these art deco lamps several years ago and they sit rather alone amidst a lot of projects. I would want to rebuild them and make them at least 6 foot 5 inches which I like my lamps to be in size, but have not altered them yet. In one the top is quite loose and my hands are rather large and more arthritic now so harder to tighten it up. Otherwise in good condition but need to be loved once again... from a Midwestern American auction !~ It is hard also to get new rods here that I can twist on a base to add the height.

The first one of these lamps I bought was real brass and the second one was bought by a good friend at work for me when I missed my auction that night, and she went, so I found out. I came home that night to find her and her husband waiting for me, which worked out well. That one was more a copper finish, though they matched closely. Those were different, nicer and bought in Canada.

To note, the inside of the black bulb holder would be painted blue inside and the inner bottom flared cone was painted pink inside to reflect those colours on the cones. None of the painted insides could be seen.

Great lamps. I love these! I have a quite similar pair which have brushed aluminum shades, a fluted post and a half sphere base with a chromed disc around the base. If I have a chance to take some pics I will post them. Mine came out of a huge estate auction in Billings Montana a number of years ago.

Thanks welzebub. These are brushed aluminum also though they have more a yellowish tone in some of the photos.

I have seen these in catalogs of 1930 and also Canadian design magazines. A lot of them appear to probably have been made in Canada or so thought by design experts. Eatons of 1930 also had showrooms with these in them, also with French Furniture also from the 1925 art deco exposition in the 20's.

Thanks for showing that, I think the thing that these all have in common are the shade of which this is the common one. There are some variations.

Hi Phil, these are great, and to have a pair even better. May I ask why 6ft 5"? That's a very precise measurement. I want to thank you for the info you gave me on the candlestick post and ask your opinion on my most recent figure..if I may pick those handsome brains :) how old is the last photo? You look too young to suffer arthritis. I myself suffer the same complaint, rapidly getting worse :(
    14. PhilDMorris PhilDMorris, 8 years ago
Hi Vintagefran, it has to be around 6 and a half feet so people do not look into the bulb. The photo is 1990.
