Hi, this time I'm posting an item I own. Found this about a year ago at the goodwill and I paid the price on the tag...6.99. After looking though the web I finally found someone I could send pics to. And he kindly told me who made it and gave a general appraisal. But he said he'd send more info in a few days and never did. So now I've even forgotten who carved the decoy. But I'd love to know more about the lamp fixture? All comments are welcomed and appriciated! I think the fixture is much older than the decoy?
I'm addicted to looking through all your many finds and collections you post! And reading your thoughts and knowledgeable comments! Karenoke
My parents have a very similar lamp. I will ask them what they know about it. I can tell you now that I remember them having it back in the late 70s when I was a little kid.
How very cool!!!
Can you please tell us what is written on the bottom of the duck? Many thanks.
Welcome to CW.
Well, the plug on that is pre-1965, but the cord is post-1930s. Perhaps homemade and used an old plug and new cord or rewired and used original plug head?
OMGosh, thanks for all the love and comments and inquiries!
As for the writing Gillian, I'm sorry most of what you can see "good" in the photo is upside down. And just to cover everything I'm going to write what's upside down to you also, as I'd love more info. Upside down to you reads...David Aimand? Sure of the David, not sure of the last name. 1965 Mallard. Now the harder to see stamped words....David Simand? And under those stamped words appear to be the letters CARV...and I can only assume the next letters are ING. But did you notice what appears to be a makers mark that looks like a cross but I think it's a duck in flight? Above the duck? (Cross) i think it says...True North and below the duck says David Slmanai? Let me just say I'm only positive of the David's....lol I'm gonna feel really stupid when someone tells me what it really says...lol.
And SpiritBear, I so agree with you on the cord. Someone used the same plug on an updated cord. But has anyone noticed that inside the socket it say HUBBELL I can't find too much about them. But I'm certain they were around before the 1965 duck.
Thanks so much everyone! I'm going to eat my dinner, I paused it to check here for comments. I'm so excited!
Help!
Once I mark an item to send me an email of notification, how do I see everything I was sent an email about once I come back on CW? Ok I admit, I'm not too computer savvy.
But I seen an email where one of my items was moved to a new catigory, ok by me, but I don't see it on here? I know....I'm a green newbie...lol
All good, the staff will re-categorize items to better fit a genre. The posting should still be as written.
Ok cool, but I'll eventually figure out what I'm doing....maybe. Thank you!
For reading while duck hunting ?
Could the name be:
~ DAVID ARMANDO
~ DAVID ARMANDA
~ DAVID ARMAND
~ DAVID SIMANDO
~ DAVID SIMANDA
~ DAVID SIMAND
????????
Then says 1965 and " Drake Mallard " for the type of duck
Yes, AntiqueRose the name could be any of those you mentioned. But now that you wrote them I think I recall that I was told it is David Almond. I had sent pics to a decoy expert who told me who carved it and said he'd send more info and never did.
If I leave it on here long enough maybe someone will recognize the carving and I'd really like to know more about the lamp hardware. Thanks for looking and helping!
