Not in the best of shape (head has been decapitated and reattached), but can be restored. I'm working on it. :-)))) I have ground up some cheap bisque porcelain to repair the cracks and then will go from there.
I have no clue about the origins of this ram and have not found a single thing related to a ram chalkware display item for Heineken. I imagine it was made somewhere between the 1930s/1950s.
OK, all you beer paraphernalia folks.....what do you think?
Thanks, friends!
Bonnie
What's your repair process, Bonnie? I want to see the final result!
katherine - I just ground up some bisque porcelain with a mortar and pestle until it was a powder, then mixed it with glue. I filled in one big gouge on the side and covered it with black magic marker, but still have to work more on it. In the end, I will paint it the whole figure appropriate color of charcoal black, being careful to not make it look "new". I'll post photos when it's finally finished. :-))))
I use toothpicks and needles to fill in the finer cracks.
My birth sign wonder if its astrological related.
Well it's got a wonderful texture and color. Looks very heavy too! Good luck with the restoration, show us some pictures, I'm sure it will come out great.
bijou - it is rather heavy. I have to look around in the shops for a decent charcoal black paint and take my time with restoring it. I'm going to email Heineken and ask them if it's a genuine piece. I still haven't found anything like it.....grrrr.....
Great efes!! always can pick up a skill or two from u!
Even if your "bonniezation" isn't totally complete, great result obtained !
Not a beer person (wine!) I don't know for this paraphernalia... But I love him very much :-D
paraphernalia...ahh..im trying to pronounce that without tripping on my tongue!
Hey! Found this one:
Heineken collection - approx. 2nd half of the 20th century - Catawiki
https://encheres.catawiki.eu/kavels/7676501-heineken-collection-approx-2nd-half-of-the-20th-century
your piece is older I think, but Heineken had a "Year of the Ram" promo. maybe related somehow?
Oh, couldn't you just use Plaster of Paris, for the repair?
@kyra - that one looks EXACTLY like mine. Gee, you're GOOOOOOOD..... ;-))))
@bill - I emailed Heineken today and am waiting for a reply. The one in kyra's link looks precisely like mine. I didn't find that one because it's on the French side of the Catawiki auction house site.
That's why it is good to have CW members in different parts of the world! I searched in French ;-)
@bill - the cracks are so small that it was much cheaper for me to grind up a bisque porcelain figure that cost only 25 cents. I have a great bronze mortar and pestle for that job. I have plenty of filler now, in case I find a similar object needing repair.
