A matching pair of Japanese spatter vases - they appear to be blown with an added clear glass foot. They are an opalescent white with frit elements of a couple shades of pink, a medium blue, and a sparkling green, and are clear cased inside and outside. The rims are furnace polished and the undersides are acid-stamped "MADE IN JAPAN". They stand just under 5 1/2" (13.5 cm) tall.
I think the value of marked examples is that they allow comparison to similar unmarked pieces. This becomes more useful as the market becomes more global.
My guess is (and it is truly just a guess) that these date from pre-WWII.
Good post!..:-)
Thank you.
I don't know if you know, but I'm a big fan of Karen's Japanese glass and have grown to love it! Yours is no exception. The use of spatter on these is wonderful! It's so much softer than other spatter glass I've seen and equally as beautiful! Lovely pair!
Thank you Rick - yes, Karen's glass info has been inspirational.
Thanks to everyone for the loves.
