      Hi Malkey,

Another great bottle(?) soda syphpon to share - do you know if this was used as a soda syphon. Do you know the dates if would have been in circulation?

Do you know what the building is behind the syphon photo? Looks like the entrance to a correctional facility? How the hell did I come up with that - watching too many crime shows on the tube?

Hi Gillian thank you kindly for your lovely post
the company started 1885 & lasted right up until 1967 thereabouts
the syphon most likely dates to late 1990s to late Edwardian 1910
i've heard in the past this maybe an advertising piece & in fact was perfume bottle
the building houses the lifts to the Newcastle Tyne bridge erected in 1925 a think right in the art deco period & believe the supports lift passages made of granite which certainly gives an austere appearance which you rightly allude to
your post did make laugh poor tyne bridge L.O.L

      Lovely bottle.
I like your bridge there Malkey. It clearly has a relationship to Sydney Harbour Bridge, and I believe the same contractors worked on them. Some say we copied yours; truth is I think ours was started first, it just took a lot longer to build.
      They are fantastic structures!
