Peckham Junior High School Cadet Badge

Peckham was part of the Milwaukee Public School System. Built in 1926 in what was then the edge of the city. Eventually the neighborhood grew old and the ethnic nature changed from white to predominately black. By the early 1970’s the school’s name was changed to Jackie Robinson Middle School and it was finally closed in 2005. In 2011 the building was remodeled and became the Sherman Park Senior Living Community (Apartments). Some of it’s current residents are actually alumni of the old school. The cadets badge illustrated here was probably made when the school was originally opened back in the 1920’s and was still in use during the early 1960’s when I actually wore one as a bicycle courtyard monitor. Can’t remember what number mine was but they all had to be turned in at the end of the year. Makes me wonder how this one ended up on eBay.
