Picture #1 is a very old celluloid santa and sleigh. My husband bought him from a local shop several years back. I know he's old. I know he's from Germany. I found similar ones, but not this one. He's old, fragile and brittle...so I keep him high on a shelf away from little hands!
The second photo is of a metal fence for under the tree. I bought it at a after Christmas sale last year. It's fun to find something I bought and forgot about...like giving myself an early Christmas gift. I think I paid 1/2 price and I love a bargain.
Third photo is a giant jar of a mix of my grandparents ornaments, my parent's ornaments and some vintage I've picked up over the years from the same period. I think they display nicely in the old jar and again...keeps them safe from pets and kids who cannot resist shiny things!~
Last photo is a calendar card my mother made for her mother in 1932. Love it! Mom would have been 10 years old.
Merry Christmas to all.
Wonderful! I especially love the jar of your Grandparents' ornaments. That's is pretty special.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Mary!!!
We have the exact same train-set, except mine has a broken coupler on the engine (so it's taped together. LOL).
Nice set of mementos and family history.
I enjoy sharing my favorites and it's nice to find that some of you share the same tastes. Thank you all! jscott, the jar of ornaments is also one of my very favorites. I also have some delicate paper handmade tree decorations which my grandfather made. There were very few store- bought items on my grandparents' tree. I'm posting a tiny wreath my Papo made.
SpiritBear, thanks for the comment. My husband likes the train under the tree and we shall see how this one does after this year. We'll have six little ones to play with it on Christmas eve!
as always, thanks for noticing my treasures---Caperkid,vertraio50, TassieDevil, mikelv85, byoucaillouvintage, officialfuel and fortapache.
many thanks to leighannm and brunswick for loving my Christmas goodies!
