He's the little boy that Santa Claus forgot,
And goodness knows, he didn't want a lot.
He sent a note to Santa
For some soldiers and a drum,
It broke his little heart
When he found Santa hadn't come.
In the street he envies all those lucky boys,
Then wanders home to last year's broken toys.

He hasn't got a daddy,
The little boy that Santa Claus forgot.

Very touching poem Lois!!!
Sheet music actually, published both in USA and GB. There are some differences in coloring. it seems so disturbing at Christmas, but of course things like this can happen in any decade but I don't much like the idea.
Am pretty sure a song like this would be unusual now. Thanks for dropping by!
Nat King Cole does a beautiful version. I love that song.
Daddy was killed in the war.
Heartbreaking... thanks Lois for this post!
