Brown, on the back reads THERMOCLOCK SPRINGFIELD,O USA PAT PEND in a circle.

It was on a shelf of miscellaneous bric brac in a house full of antiques and collectables. The owner was in her early 90s. I don't know if this was hers or a family heirloom, as she has passed away and I've inherited the item.

It is about 3 1/2" tall at the point and 2" across.

It appears to be working because I took it from the senior's house, where the temp was about 55 degrees, and now at my house it's gone up to 60 already. I don't want to stress it by putting it near a heat source. Letting it do it's thing.

I'd like to know it's age, value.

When I first looked at your thermometer, I thought "70's nostalgia decorative fantasy item". There doesn't appear to be any trademark detail on the logo which means it's not a Coca-Cola Co. licensed or authorized advertising piece. I researched a little and found this to be in the shape of a cathedral clock. If you Google "cathedral thermometer", you will see several images of your thermometer with plain and advertisement front panels - lumber yard, funeral home, George Washington bicentennial. My best guess is that this is a 1930's specialty desk thermometer with ad panel commissioned by a local bottler. Also, Springfield is within a region of Ohio that manufactured A LOT of Coca-Cola signs, thermometers, and trays (Robertson Sign Co., American Art Works, MCA Sign Co.), so it's not inconceivable there could be some tie-in there as well. It's not a big ticket item, but a neat little piece nonetheless. I was not able to find one in any of the collectors books or on the internet. Maybe one of the pro's here will know for sure.

Thank you Daddy_Nobucks - your research is greatly appreciated. I need to get out the big magnifying glass, because there is something imprinted between the Coca Cola. I'd like to figure out what it sez. Your research gives me so much more than I had a couple days ago. I've seen the George Washington bicentennial clock on eBay and one other. the Cathedral thermometer tip is a good one. I'm onto the search. :-)
