Seems really old. Porcelain is so thin you can see your hands shadow behind it in normal light.

Just a signature no stamp or insignia

      That's a gorgeous bowl! Where's the signature?

Most likely Kutani and not Satsuma

this looks like porcelain, whereas satsuma is always earthenware. beautiful bowl though! i think a good description would be satsuma-style porcelain bowl.

I had no idea. Now I know. Is this signature familiar anywhere?

All outlines in gold leaf. Even the little crisis crosses on the man's shirt all gold just very very fine

Gorgeous. Be careful, it looks like it has a hairline crack in the first pic. Take it to an expert and have it stabilized.

It depicts the story of Urashima Tar?.

The ornate design on the top edge looks like Japanese Brocade Imari. Imari dates to the 1800s but is still being made. The delicacy of the porcelain makes me think it is an older piece. Satsuma had a much heavier appearance, more like pottery not porcelain.
