I took a 45 minute ride early this morning to a town named Tegelen to go to a flea market. Malva was hawking her stuff there today, and I'd never been to Tegelen. I can now confidently say that I'm never going to another flea market in Tegelen. One big YUCK. Clothes, cheap Christmas decorations and an array of crappy jewelry. Malva, however, did great. :-))))) She gave me that silver crucifix for my sterling silver rosary, acquired from Geri, and whose cross had gone missing.
The signature looks like "H. Taurani", which doesn't come up as anything other than an actor in India with the last name of Taurani. "J. Haurani" gives me a surgeon in Columbus, Ohio.
So....good luck!
Thanks for coming by!
Bonnie
Such a BEAUTIFUL Crucifix!! Is this what would be referred to as a Papal Crucifix?
Thanks, Scott! Yes, now that you mention it, it is a Papal Crucifix. I'm still trying to figure out who belongs to that signature. :/
Hairand... Hairani... Found nothing!
Interesting design!!!
Just had to look up Papal Crucifix history as I had not heard this before......took me to a creepy site for the bent cross and satan and the anti- Christ........I think I will just stick to the traditional cross..........

Your cross doesn't actually look like the really awful bent one that the Pope was holding, that the article above was about!!
Ooh, Judy, I think that cross is interesting! The person who wrote the below article must have had a bone to pick with the Pope over the staff. Seems he believes that someone who is nailed to a cross is supposed to look serene while suspended by spikes driven through their hands....the typical rendition of Christ on the cross.

Too much water under the bridge Bonnie since I was a practicing Catholic.....I just like to collect Rosary beads, with their crosses, as well as prayer books, holy cards etc...........can't say I have really taken too much notice of the style of the cross lol...will have to get them out and have a look!!!
Judy - I have a small variety of religious bits and pieces, plus some things hanging on my walls. :-)))) I'm not religious in any sense of the word. Just interested in what type of possessions people think they need in order to get through daily life. In another life, I was a church secretary. The head pastor was the reincarnation of Jekyll & Hyde. I never knew from one day to the next "who" would come through my office....
Lol Bonnie, I have had dealings with a couple of people, men and women like your church pastor......talk about walking on egg shells.....not pleasant!!
Merry Christmas!! beautiful!!
