Hello everyone.
This is a really lovely piece of WWI memorabilia. I Bought this from a local seller who purchased this directly from the Tasmanian family of this serviceman. The family however was not keen to give his name.......
It is a locket ring with a soldier's picture in it, made from 15ct gold, hallmarked and in really nice condition.
I have had it for a couple of years now and also found an Advert for these rings dated October 1916.......hope you can read it...the copy was not very clear.
I guess this would come under "sweetheart" pieces as well.....I hope you love it as much as I do. Thanks, Judy
Beautiful! Amazing you found an ad for the very ring!
Thanks Celiene, yes we have a really great site that has digitized our old newspapers etc and alot of the time I can find the info I want.....it is brilliant!!
It's lovely, Judy!
~ BINGO SCORE ~
Thanks Bonnie, glad you think so.......I have worn it once (yes it fits perfectly) to an Anzac Exhibition........I still can't understand how family can sell pieces like this, although I am very happy that I get to be the caretaker of it!!
Thanks Rose!! :))
Love it! So very special and precious!
Yes it is Bijou, so glad you understand and can appreciate it, thank you!
Love this !!
Thank you Manikin!! :)
I am happy it is with you Judy. I too can't understand why a family would give this up. Such a shame that they got all precious about the name too. The two actions make little sense to me.
Even without the history, it's a lovely ring.
Thanks Karen, I am glad that you can love and appreciate it too!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family.....be happy and stay safe!!

This is cute, I don't think I've seen them like this...only the locket pendants. Wonder why they wouldn't give the name but gave the photo! Im glad you have this instead of me, I would no doubt have my hands in water, then realise I forgot to take off the ring! Sweet.
Thanks Share, I like to have a name to go with these war related pieces if for no other reason than I am at least remembering them and their war service. I can get Australian service records on line to fill in the blanks.....I like the research:-)
