I got this doll from a lady and she said that it had belonged to her grandmother. She is marked on back-Germany, Simon Halbig 1080. I like this doll-I do not have another one by this company that I know of.
Lovely doll :-) Simon Halbig made good quality dolls . Sears, Roebuck & Co. also imported the 1080 models and sold them as “DAINTY DOROTHY” dolls
Look on her chest on front of leather body and see there might be a sticker there saying Dainty Dorothy .
Thanks again-I did not the Dorothy name on her, but for her age she is in good condition
The quality of these old dolls and the fact that most were not played with except on Sundays with supervision has kept many in beautiful condition but there were accidents and heads would break and more common to find broken fingers . She dates about 1900 give or take a few years .
