This photochrome post-card is from 1899.
Europe has a longer history of postcards than does America. Germany is where many antique postcards were printed before the first World War, for Germany was very advanced in mass-producing realistic, beautiful prints.
It is hard to imagine that this is not a hand-coloured photo, but rather a skillfully-made print. (I myself like to call them real-photo postcards, for it is hard to tell it isn't).
I am surprised CW doesn't have a section for German postcards. They made half of the late 1800s-early 1900s postcards.
