Hi all. This is a chinese snuff bottle that i got from an old house clearance. I don't know alot about these, im assuming its ivory or bone? But unsure?. There is marking to the base, but again i have no info on these either. I do like it and thats why i kept it, as i find it a charming little thing, and sits in my glass cabinet. I find alot of the information online confusing, and understand that there are a lot of fakes out there, im just hoping that mine isnt.

Sorry to say, but it looks like resin. Have you tried sticking a hot pin in somewhere discreet like the base or inside the mouth? If you smell plastic you will know for sure.

Hi. THank you for your response. I will try the hot pin test and let you know.

Well I did the hot pin test and im gutted to say that this is made with plastic resin. The hot pin sunk into it slowly and gave off a resin smell. Oh well, still enjoy its looks just not valuable anmore. Thank you all for your help and advice.

Sorry to hear that! I've bought plenty of fake bottles, so don't be discouraged. It's part of the learning experience...
