Hi Deanteaks! So I stumbled across this site today and I absolutely love this unsolved mysteries section. I saw this piece and decided it would be an excellent challenge to test my research abilities. Before I get to it I just want to say that I am no expert so take everything here with a grain of salt. You could have a forgery or I could be entirely wrong. As it appears to me, this is what you have.

I believe this to be a bleu de hue bottle vase with an under-glaze. It's a blue and white Chinese export porcelain. The bleu de hue pieces were made in China for the Vietnamese market. The best examples were ordered by the Vietnamese court by way of diplomatic missions to China. I don't know if it's possible to obtain an exact origin or maker of the piece. Most of them were produced in Jingdezhen, a city with a rich history of pottery. I believe the writing to say "Nei Fu" or "Inner Court". I would estimate this piece to be mid to late 19th century during the Qing dynasty (The last dynasty of China).

I managed to find a very similar example for sale on ebay that sold for roughly $540.00 USD in April. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/19thC-NEI-FU-CHINESE-PORCELAIN-BLUE-WHITE-DRAGON-VASE-/300543399283

So if you're looking to sell it or have it insured. Hopefully I've uncovered enough information to entice you to have an expert check it out.

i agree excellent work of cryptic curios

i think more important is the crosshatch and dots theory into the skin of the dragon of Anthony Allen , and when the theory might be sound it,s guanghu period

beautiful! 19th c blue de hue is going for very big bucks these days, thanks to the boom economy in Vietnam.

pete if you extrapolate the period to just 19 century ,you got an value question between lets say daoguang - versus end of 19 ct pieces, if you comply with the crosshatch and dots theory , (academic discussion concerning dating the earlier over the wall dragons) i think it, is end of 19 ct dragon scene at least you got a narrowed down and authenciate the piece , one way or another , whatever this is value
