Hello fellow collectors!!!
I recently posted my Uncle Wiggily Longears lamp. This is my Uncle Wiggily Longears book collection that I mentioned in the post. Uncle Wiggily Longears was a charactor created by Howard R. Garis in 1910. He wrote many books, in the early 1900's, based on this character. The first series of these books were published by the A. L. Burt Company, in the early 1900's, with a second printing by the Platt and Munk Publishing Company in the late 1930's thru the early 1950's. All of these, however, were printed between 1939 and 1950 by the Platt and Munk Publishing Co. With the exception of a 1912 edition of Uncle Wiggily's Adventures, published by A.L. Burt Publishing Company and a VERY rare 1915 edition of Uncle Wiggily Longears (pic #4).
The books in the collection consists of the following titles:
Uncle Wiggly Longears
Uncle Wiggily's Story Book
Uncle Wiggily's Picture Book
Uncle Wiggily and His Friends
Uncle Wiggily and the Littletails
Uncle Wiggily's Adventures (1939 edition)
Uncle Wiggily's Adventures (1912 edition)
Uncle Wiggily's Travels
Uncle Wiggily's Airship
Uncle Wiggily's Automobile
Uncle Wiggily In The Country
Uncle Wiggily On The Farm
Uncle Wiggily's Fortune
and
Uncle Wiggily and Jackie and Peetie Bow Wow
I believe these were the only ones published by Platt and Munk, with the exception of Uncle Wiggily's Happy Days, which I do have, but unfortunately I am unable to find it in my boxes of books, for now anyway!!
In addition to the Uncle Wiggily Longears books, I also have a complete 1916 edition of the Milton-Bradley Co. Uncle Wiggily board game in my collection.
Thanks for stopping in to see my Uncle Wiggily Longears books!!
Scott
I've not heard of these stories Scotty were they all written in the early 1900
Very nice collection Scott. The spines look to be in fine condition for their age. I've seen individual copies never this many together. Thanks for sharing.
Roy,
Yes, they were. It all started in about 1911 as a comic strip in a New Jersey newspaper and evolved into a series of books from there. He's a pretty cool rabbit that just happens to have a case of rheumatism. That's why he hops on a crutch or seems to always have a crutch laying beside him.
Thanks Roddy!! I've acquired these individually over the past few years until I had a complete set. With the exception of some gift inscriptions written inside the books, they're all in fairly pristine condition. The 1915 copy, my oldest, is just in fair condition though.
Thanks Scotty
You did a great job putting your set together Scott!!

dont believe I have any books with bunnies ,,.. but I ate a few .. from time to time last one was a snowshoe hair up in VT with fresh milk and vegies and good friends .........smiling .. nice collection bud.
My grandma had a collection of these books that she read to me and my sister when we were little. I always just assumed that other kids my age were read these as well it wasn't until I was much older than I found out how old these books were. Sadly I'm not sure what happened to my grandma's copies but over the years ive been slowly collecting my own. You've got a wonderful collection.
Thanks Gary!! I used to rabbit hunt every season when I was a kid. So, we ate our fair share of fried rabbit, biscuits and gravy!!
Whatsername85,
Thank you so VERY much!! I have a decent collection of antique and vintage children's books. But, Uncle Wiggily is my absolute favorite though. There are plenty Uncle Wiggily books on eBay and other sites. Thanks for the wonderful comment for stopping by!!

This is a great collection.
I know this is an old thread but I just joined this group… to find more information on Uncle Wiggily.
I had never heard of Uncle Wiggily but apparently my wife grew up listening to the stories as a child. I am looking for clarification on the earliest editions but I am not sure that it is appropriate to muck up your post with my questions…..Marty
