Hello again CW friends!!
You just saw my set of Goebel Old Mother West Wind characters. And here are the books that the characters were modeled after. These stories were written by Thornton W. Burgess between 1910 and 1918. Some of these books are from that period, but the others, I believe, may be from the 1941 period. Not sure which ones though.
There were (8) eight books in the series:
Old Mother West Wind 1910
Mother West Wind's Children 1911
Mother West Wind's Animal Friends 1912
Mother West Wind's Neighbors 1913
Mother West Wind Why Stories 1915
Mother West Wind How Stories 1916
Mother West Wind When Stories 1917
Mother West Wind Where Stories 1918
Anyway, I love my Old Mother West Wind collection and I hope you do as well!!
Thanks for stopping to have a look!

Thanks so much! Wish I could say they are rare, but they're not. There's still plenty to be found today. They bring back wonderful childhood memories as I read these when I was a child in elementary school.

On a scale from 1 - 10, my childhood memories just shot to 82. : ) My dad had these as a kid and I fell in live with them as a kid. Then my daughter fell in love with them when they were little. I’d read them aloud, doing character voices, re-loving the beautifully simple stories, laughing with my daughter over the everyone’s antics.
I’m saving the 3-4 I have left for grandkids if I ever get some. : ) The books have held up well - I read them in the bath, sunbathing out back... they certainly don’t look like yours, but they haven t fallen apart.
Thanks so much for posting these. It made me smile like a goofball. m
tiquefrique,
I'm so very happy that you love these and have such wonderful memories of them. I remember reading these in the library of my elementary school back in the early 1970's. I love all of the Thornton W. Burgess stories.
Hello Rabbits
I have a pal named Harvey
This is Elwood P. Dowd
I think it is the spirit of
The endless school Recess time
Thanks Eileen!!! We've had 3 smooth coat male Dachshunds over the pas 28 years and we currently have a chocolate/tan long hair female dachshund named Carly. She's a sweetie and not near as hyper as our previous males.
Thanks Vynil (Elwood P. Dowd). Harvey is one of my all time favorite movies. Glad you like my books and rabbits!!

Thanks Eileen!! I've missed you all as well. Glad these bring back wonderful memories. I have SO many children's books. Most are currently in climate controlled storage, with the exception of some very rare ones in my collection. I joined CW a little over 6 years ago. The time has flown!
For a few years I collected original artworks by the illustrators of turn of the century books by artists like George Kerr. A collector can definitely keep busy chasing these works down. There were some very fine artists who put bread on the table working as illustrators during this period.
Thanks for the comment kwqd!!
There's some absolutely mind blowing illustrations in the old books. I have a set of antique 1842 French books illustrated by J.J. Grandville. The illustrations are amazing, to say the least.
