This is an antique, wooden, hand-painted letter box from Spa, Belgium. Jacques Rener (1822-1897) was the artist, and he had a son, Rene, who continued the tradition. Spa is known for its hand-painted wooden boxes.
This box doesn't close completely, and it's missing the key. It's not in the best condition, but I fell in love with it when I saw it at a local antiques shop.
