This late Loetz decor was made in the last days of the company. The paper label attached is from the firm "Kristallglasfabrik Spiegelau GmbH", who administered the financially doomed operation from 1939 to 1942*. This label is also sometimes found on the Schaumglas line.

This decor is a new take on an older decor and shape, and is the first of its kind in my collection. The form corresponds to PN II-2/524 from about 1902, and the cratered appearance is reminiscent of the Diaspora decor from the same period. This version is updated in red and black contrasting colors.

This is a beautiful and quite unique vase BGM. A gentleman was selling one a while back and had it listed as diaspora. Being familiar with the diaspora decor, with its many craters, I told him it was not. He proved me wrong by sending me references identifying it as new diaspora. We learn something new everyday. :-)
