I have a thing for vintage plastic jewelry. I usually only wear my bangles in the summer because in the winter these big pieces bother too much with sweaters and jackets.
This bangle looked really sad when I got it. I washed it with mild soap and water first. After cleaning it, I polished it with toothpaste. Most of the little scratches disappeared but I need to work on it a bit more.
Thanks for looking:)
Very nice! How do you repair your plastic jewelry?
Mary, thanks for your tips on repair. I have made many mistakes before and now I am more careful. I clued rhinestones with Crazy Clue: What a disaster!
Silver polish and toothpaste works well on cheap pieces. I also have refinished plastic and silver with a nail buffer. I am not sure how you call that thingy; it can be used to polish you nails. It is better and smoother than sandpaper. But I only use this technique on jewelry that otherwise would be trash.
I don't touch the better pieces because I hope that I will learn more as I go along:)
Thank you
