I was surprised to see that IronLace posted an example of this jar a few days ago; she and I are both curious about who the maker may be of these pieces. Based on the style of glass, I do believe it is Bohemian. Mine came to me from the UK about a month ago; it has a silverplate lid in the same style as IronLace's, but mine also came with a spoon. Since the spoon seems to sit a little low in the slot in the lid, I think it may not be original to the set, but it is still pretty together. The glass itself is 3.75" tall. Recently I have seen two other examples of this pink and yellow iridescent glass in different shapes (see one in image 3). If anyone has an ideas as to the maker, or has seen other shapes, please let me know! :)
I particularly love the jar, Michelle, but they both look like silk...... Delightful!
PINK -- I love it !!!!!
Thank you, sklo! It is very silky in feel, too. I just looked so sweet that I couldn't resist it. I can see one of these it fitting in with your kitchen collection, perhaps - I'll keep my eye open for you! :)
Thanks so much, rose - I know that is right up your alley! :)
It's the twin of my one! :-)
Great to see it...& I have seen that vase in the third photo around too...looks like it maybe had a metal flower frog originally, or it could've been a biscuit barrel that lost it's fittings...the shape is similar to my biscuit barrel in this decor.
IronLace, I agree that the piece in image 3 had either a frog or a lid like your biscuit barrel example - I think they could be the same shape. A friend just sent me a link to another piece in this decor; it is still up for auction on Ebay, and I'd be happy to email you a link to it. Isn't it neat that out two pieces survived all these years and still have their lids? :)
Hi Michelle, thanks for that - I did manage to find that one on eBay, its on my watch list. :-)
