CW friends......say hello to PeeJay who has been with us for 3 days. She is not quite the SMALL older dog we were wanting to adopt but she is just gorgeous and is really placid, loving and well behaved, an absolute pleasure to have in the house!!
She is a retired greyhound who is 7 years old, who previously would have been put down when her racing career was over. Thanks to the Greyhound Adoption Program, these dogs can now find good homes to live in happily for the rest of their lives.
We are really happy with her, I don't think I have ever been around such a gentle dog!!!
Super story and post -- YOUR MY HERO !!
Hope the links work for you

I love greyhounds - these adoptees always seem so sweet and sooky.
Judy - what's with the jumper and uggies? It's 40 degrees here!!!
Oh Rose.....I am an old softy, cry at the drop of a hat........thank you, the links are beautiful !!
It is a win- win situation for both PeeJay and us I am sure!!
Hi Karen, yes, they are very sooky...but just so great.......thanks!!
Ahh at the moment is only 16 degrees and blowing an absolute gale!! Was a bit cool this morning, most days I start off with this many clothes on and then shed layers during the day........ You are quite welcome to your 40 degrees, I had enough of that!! Daughter & son are in Gosford......they are suffering too.........
She looks soooo sweet. I'm glad she found you! Looks like she will be happy for a long time now.
Lovely new member jud! Thanks for saving a life!
Awe, so sweet. So kind of you to adopt a greyhound. Not sure what sooky is but so nice you save one. :)
You have a lovely garden too!!
Thank you Share for the lovely comment......I hope she will be too!!
Aw, thank you Flea for the lovely comment....much appreciated!
Thank you OGF,we had looked for smaller older dogs at the RSPCA and dog's homes etc but they were really few and far between.......the dogs they mostly had were young Staffordshire Terriers or that sort of dog........and I was determined I would not have a dog that frightened me.......and that is me being sooky LOL!! So when we looked into greyhounds they just sounded the perfect type for me and now all is good thank you!!
Oh and glad you like the garden too thank you ogf!!
Aaaw... my heart is melting a little. She looks so sweet. I'm sure you deserve each other and will make each other very happy!
Oooh! So sweeeeeet girl!
No matter of the size... a well behaved quiet bigger dog is better than an excited little one (even not speaking of 2!!!).
You're such a sweet heart, Judy :-)
Thank you Bijou.....such a lovely comment and very much appreciated!! :-)
Oh Pascale, thank you..... I really am so excited, she is just so gentle and lovely!! I am used to animals not taking to me.....same as children lol...hubby has always been a magnet for animals and kids.....so I was worried that Peejay would not take to me.....but the minute we set eyes on each other she came straight up to my side and put her head against me for a pat......really amazing....and I took her for a little walk today and she was great......that was a first for me too!! All is great!!
Judy,
How wonderful that you have rescued PeeJay!!! She's pretty lucky to have found such a good home to live out the rest of her life in. She has a look in her eyes that anyone would immediately fall in love with!!
Love her name 'PeeJay' - Love your post/story.
Good for you and her to find each other, she looks like a real sweetheart !
Thank you Judy for rescuing her. You two were meant to be for each other !!! :)
Thanks so much Scott for such a lovely comment!!
JImam, thank you!! That was her racing name and she answers to it so thought best not to change it......
Ken, thank you for the lovely comment....she is pretty cute!!
PhilD, thank you .......such a lovely thing to say!! very much appreciated!!
Oh thanks so much Martika, she is lovely and I am beginning to think we might have rescued each other!!
adopting a dog is the best thing u can do!cant afford the time so the most i do these day is to walk along the shore and lookout for any sea creatures in distress like jellyfish and throw them back to sea
Yes Flea, it is so much easier to have a pet when you don't have work commitments or any other real commitments either...... We actually went to the markets today and left PeeJay home alone (outside) for an hour and a half just to see how she would go........the neighbours haven't complained so am guessing she was good LOL!!
Your time will come Flea......walking the shoreline is a good thing!!
Thanks very much for the love, interest and support here to all 25 lovers, and thanks so much to everyone for all the wonderful comments on this post!!! I am really overwhelmed by your kindness, kind regards to all, Judy.
She looks fast just standing still ..Glad you save her ...'-))

Many thanks Freiheit, Val, Alan, Roycroft and Rob for the love and appreciation. I do sincerely appreciate it!!
Beautiful and congratulations! I have adopted three dogs and would have more of them if I could. Give them a little love and they return it ten-fold! Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks so much Vintagelamp for your lovely comment!! How wonderful that you have adopted three......I bet they keep you busy!
Even at this early stage of having PeeJay, I can see the difference in her being happy and eager to please us. She is going to be a lovely companion!!
Many thanks for the love too!!
TassieDevil, Please give PeeJay a big hug from me and the "Green Lady."
The best part of her life, begins....:-)

Oh, thank so much Glass for your wonderful comment, I really am overwhelmed by the support shown here for PeeJay and myself!
She is just the most wonderful dog, and eager to learn new things as well about being a pet.......must be so strange for her not to be up and about early training and that sort of thing!! She can be as lazy as she wants to be here now!
Appreciate the love Glass, thank you!
Congratulations on the newest member of your family Tassie! I'm crazy about dogs, and IMO there's no better animal in the world :-)
Rick, thank you for the really nice comment and the love, she is such a good girl and good company already too!
Appreciate the love Celiene, thank you very much!!
CarrieT, thanks very much for the love!! Really appreciated!
Had to look at where you are and still don't know what sooky is but it seems to be a good thing. So I lived in the South for a number of years and they have "greyhound" parks. They race them and then?? Being something I had not seen I was focused on the bet by the person who took me there. Then my brother visited me and I took him there. I was the DD tourist guide and quickly found it distasteful for the best word I can put on here. Outside of this I feel extremely distasteful about horse racing. It breaks my heart and I'm so glad even across the pond you rescued a beautiful animal. From what I have read they make wonderful companions, and bless your heart. :)
Thanks very much OGF, very kind of you to comment again, I really appreciate your support.
Greyhounds are really such a sweet loving dog as we are finding out day by day with PeeJay.......and just so calm......nothing seems to bother her!!
Appreciate the love Val, thank you!
PeeJay is such a beauty so good to hear she will be able to enjoy her retirement surrounded by love!!!
Thanks very much Roddy......such a lovely comment which is very much appreciated as is the love and support!
Oh, and I think PeeJay has almost got us trained now lol!!
You have a wonderful Spiritual Side--In the Bible it says " Not a bird drops to the ground that your Father In Heaven does not take note of it"--I have always felt that passage gives much hope there is a "doggie heaven"--(pet heaven) I guess with our new President we can mention a Bible quote if it applies. I am sure this one does. All the best to Pee Jay and thanks to Tassie Devil for her special kindness, all Good in the New Year to you and yours!
Many thanks PostCardCollector for your very kind words and wishes for PeeJay and myself.
All the very best for the new year to you and yours as well, thank you.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look and love as well......very much appreciated!!
Hi Judy, she looks so sweet and I know that Greyhounds have a wonderful temperament. Unfortunately these poor racing dogs are abandoned when their working life is over. It great that you have adopted her, may you both enjoy your time together, I know she's going to have a wonderful life.
Hi Jean, thank you.
PeeJay is settling in really well and her personality is starting to show through too.....and she is learning to play as well, she is so funny and quite clever!! She isn't the nervous girl anymore......much more settled now. I hope she enjoys us as much as we enjoy her!
Thanks very much Jean for your comment and the love, very much appreciated!!
Your welcome Judy, I myself have 5 dogs 3 have been adopted, through death or other reasons, they haven't been abandoned. My big St Bernard Felipe is 8 years old today bless him, I love him to bits and that's goes for the other 4.
You made an awesome choice!
She is very pretty too.
Wow Jean......5 dogs, and one a St Bernard!!! Well done!! Bet they keep you on your toes and play time would be hectic lol!!
Happy Birthday to your big boy too!!!
Thanks Karenoke, we didn't really know what to expect from just reading up on greyhounds.....but we are just so impressed with her......we could not have done better!!
We think she is really pretty too, thank you again!
Hello Pauliina, thank you very much for the love, very much appreciated!!
How great your story is judy and she is beautiful.
It is heart warming to know you have saved this sweet girl and welcomed her into your family.

Hello PeeJay i was raised in Florida my dad always went to derby lane he even had a female greyhound don't even think he ran her he got her at S.P.C.A. in SEMINOLE FLORIDA 1965-1969 i will agree after a dog is runned and they do not win there thrown to the side winners are put threw hell then thrown to the curb i think adopting a animal is cool they need love just like we do Tassie devil thumbs up adopting her.
Hello Swampdogg, thanks so very much for your comment, PeeJay and I both appreciate your thoughts and interest and agree totally that these dogs (or any animals) well and truly deserve all the love and kindness we can give them!! They give so much back in return too. Thanks again :-)

Oh Judy, she is so lovely... I had to love her again :-))
The rascals are still destructive... last wreck is climbing on the terrasse table (muddy paws prints all over!)... And eating the plastic ends of the parasol!!!
They too take plants out of pots and eat the clay beads that are in the bottom...
Pfeewww!
What cheeky monkeys they are Pascale!! They sure keep you on your toes don't they but I bet they look like angels when they are asleep and all is forgiven :))
