We have received this trunk as a gift and have no information about it, we know it was bought at a local antique dealer.
I have searched for info but cant find any trunks that look similar
It has a curved lid, hinges on top, the lid overhangs the front and sides of trunk
It measures 52 inches long, 32 inches wide, 18 inches high.
The trunk is exceptionally heavy but I don't know the weight, the lid alone is very heavy.
The latch looks the same as latches on some Indian dowry trunks. The latch is off center and I can see evidence that there used to be 2 latches.
The inside of the chest is bare, there may have been parts inside that have been removed.
Im sorry the photos have uploaded upside down or sideways, not sure how to change that.
If anyone knows any info that could shed some light it would be great

Here seems to be a similar Indian Dowry chest image.
It doesn't look very old, to be honest. Asia has had a booming "Antiques made to order" business for many years now.
But it's still an appealing decretive piece.
