Hi saders, you have a cross slat barrel top trunk, the cross slat design ( wood slats running from front to back ) was patented in 1880 by C.A. Taylor, your trunk was probably made in late 1890's to 1915 and was what they called a crystallized tin, gold being the most common color, this one may have been silver hard to tell , it didn't hold up very well, without a trunk label impossible to say who the maker was. This one appears to have been refinished at some time, looks nice inside and out. hope this helps some, greendog.
