This is an unusual Victorian glass basket, with a leaf like form to the handles & sides. It is made from pale yellow uranium glass that shades to dark ruby red, almost black at the edges of the leaves. It measures 14 cm tall at the highest point, 17 cm wide, & 5 cm across the base. It has a slightly rough pontil mark. I think this piece is most likely Bohemian, any thoughts welcome.
Well I think it's very pretty!!
Many thanks, OneGoodFind!
Very pretty! This shape is usually attributed to Kralik. I love these little baskets, and the colors on this one are really pretty!
IronLace, I have some images of catalog pages of Kralik Victorian glass that you might like to see and use for your reference; if you want to give me your email address, I'd be happy to send them to you.
Thanks so much for that, Michelle, I am pleased to know it is a Kralik piece - & I can see how the leafy shape fits in with their floriforms.
Will be in touch with you soon regarding the catalogue pages, too!
