Double Boilers are one of my favorite Enamelware/Graniteware pieces. This one is very unusual as it is just 4" across.
Another unusual feature is that the top is splatterware (fits in the graniteware category with swirls, speckles etc). While the two pots that make up the double boiler are enamelware in white with red trim.
Generally I tend to avoid the splatterware with all the spots as they tend to be made in China and made recently but this one has a beauty mark which is chip with the metal underneath showing its age. Also the new pieces being made in China are very lumpy. Vintage pieces are just a bit lumpy and almost feel completely smooth.
I love this! So kitschy! So retro!
Thank you very much betweenthelens.

This one is lovely.....very classy! Does the larger pan in the back ground have the same splatter lid?
In these tumultuous times it is so calming to see people enthusiastic about a tiny double boiler. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much sklo42. The large pot in the rear just has the white with red trim top.
Thank you very much Jean123. I'll keep collecting and posting.
