Hello. I found this trunk along side of the road here in Akron Ohio a few weeks ago. It measures approx 38.5 wide 23 deep and 26 tall. Only marking is on the lock actually double stampted slightly. G24 it still has the inside tray and is in solid condition given its age??? I am desperately trying to identify it'd maker for I only see few black canvas trunks also has 3 side to side slats where most online only seem to have 2. Rows. Any info will help. Thanks Aaron in Akron please feel free to email me any useful info.@ abstractlycreative45 @gmail.com

You have a nice flat top trunk made in the early 1900's. This style and form of trunk was made by many makers at the time so without a label it would be difficult to discover which company produced this one. The G24 would be a parts number. Most trunk makers purchased their hardware from parts companies. The third row of slats is a nice addition to the overall look -- as noted most did two but some have added the extra as your example indicates. Nice to have the interior tray as these are often misplaced over the years. Welcome to Collectors Weekly and thanks for the post!
