Hello
I purchased a house a few months ago and I found this beautiful trunk in the attic. I don't know anything about it and I will be very appreciate if someone else can tell me anything about it
The compartments with the pics inside the trunk are gorgeous with vibrant colors (does not look good in a pic)
There is also a removable draw underneath those compartments for extra storage. It looks very old but very well taken care of. It's not restored.
The outside I believe it's leather wood and steel.
It's a beauty !!!!!!
Nice bonus with the new house.
Yes very nice!!!!
Hi Maria775, very nice barrel top trunk, I would say from around mid 1880's or so. I believe it's canvas covered and not leather, very good condition inside and out, a very light cleaning with a damp cloth with Murphy's oil soap and water to remove some of the dust and grime and you are good to go, very nice. greendog
Greendog, its really hard to tell but It looks like possibly a Zinc covering because of the color and smoothness.
Yeah your right, like you said its hard to see, but I knew it wasn't leather, not sure what it is really, if it is in fact zinc, dose that change the date on it.
its almost to perfect of a gray all over, I had a zinc trunk and it was a greenish gray color.
Could be late 1870's ,I have a couple of zinc trunks and they look quite similar only beat up pretty good. This one is not at all and I think that's what is making hard to tell.
Nice trunk Maria775!!!
I think your right Ben, I don't see any tear or tatter spot's, if it were canvas you would most likely see some, the light gray color threw me off. Hey Ben call me 517 358 5513.
