Martin Morrison, Iowa photographer still life.

This still life shows the many instruments of a music teacher or perhaps just a local musician.

The Edison phonograph sits prominently on the table and is a rare subject matter in early images.

In addition, there are song cylinders with Edison's face clearly visible on the tubes.

You got it roddy-- it is a stereoview. The images were taken with a stereo camera and when placed side by side and viewed with a viewer, give the flat photo a 3D effect.

They are really neat-- suggest you try viewing one some time!

I have seen the stereoviewers and stereoscopic photos before at shows or in showcases. Never did view one after seeing your post I hope to get the opportunity one day to have a view:)

They come in differing quality-- some really show a lot of depth when seen through the viewer.
