This pretty stock certificate from the Lehigh Valley RR dates from 1904. The owner was from a prominent Philadelphia family. Purchasing railroad stocks was a priority for most people, whoever could dig up some spare money to invest. Railroads were the future of this country, and while still very important to life here in the U.S., this country has mostly turned its back to them.
