This photo was taken on Mardi Gras Day. Pete Fountain and his marching group - The Half-Fast Walking Club were on Bourbon Street and so was I with the customary Nikons around my neck. TV crews were jostling one another to get their footage for the evening news. I was fortunate enough to get in close enough to grab this image. Nikon F2AS with a 28mm lens I believe and Kodak PlusX Pan film developed in Diafine... totally pre-digital.
Pete Fountain was a wonderful man. I attended school with his son, and our senior class had our class retreat at his camp in Biloxi, Mississippi. Sadly, Mr. Fountain passed away last year, but all true New Orlenians and jazz music aficionados miss him very much today!
Thank you very much Roy!
