This pair of Victorian vases took almost 20 years to put together. The first one - on the right - has obviously suffered some serious damage, & was repaired. It was cheap, & in my earlier collecting days, my only chance to obtain a piece of this type of glass. The example on the left, I purchased on eBay last year, & it is in perfect condition. Both vases are made from three layers of cased glass - clear over rainbow spatter & mica spangles, with a white interior. They both have applied feet in clear glass. Right vase measures 12.5 cm tall, 7.4 cm across the top rim, 7.5 cm across the base. Left vase measures 12 cm tall, 7.2 cm across the top rim, & 7.5 cm across the base.
These rainbow vases are so ladylike. I always think of the Victorians living in dark houses with heavy furniture and dismal paintings. Imagine how joyful these would look in that environment.
Many thanks, racer4four, I agree, they would have made a lovely contrast to the dark interiors of the time. It's my dream to put together a Victorian style decor one day, with all my pastel coloured glass to provide the icing on the cake!
Thanks also, nutsabotas6!
