Here we have a large Bernard Instone brooch, it marked silver but no makers mark. The stones are Moonstones and the red stones are Paste, he did use a lot of paste stones. The brooch has his typical leaves and flowers and they blend in neatly around the stones. I'm thinking this piece is either from the 1930-40s.
Many thanks for looking
Interesting that the brooch has a tube hing - a Victorian invention - and a rollover clasp...a 1900s invention.
*hinge*
I must admit that did cross my mind, the hinge does look to be Victorian, I shall go through my numerous brooches. Thanks for your comment Bonnie.
The broad hinge is definitely Victorian. Edwardian hinges are much narrower. Very possible that this brooch was made just on the cusp of the Victorian/Edwardian era.

Hi Bonnie this is a listing of 3 brooches which are Bernard Instone. If you look a the top brooch it also a tube hinge.
Yes, it is - perhaps that was his hinge of choice at the time the brooch was made, which would be in keeping with the design of the piece.
Bernard Instone I suppose did his own thing Bonnie. For instance he wasn't the slightest bit interested in convention, he did his own thing, went his own way.
Oh thank you so much nutsabotas, I'm glad you like this brooch.
That explains the beauty of his jewelry - he marched to a different drummer....
So very true Bonnie, that's why I love his jewellery and not forgetting his spoons, brushes etc etc. I'm always finding something new that he as made. I've just recently found a silver compact which I'll post later as haven't received it yet. As always thanks for taking an interest Bonnie.
I love the delicate leaves and flowers peeking around those stones. It has everything, in your face and subtlety!
Thank you Karen, I know your a great admirer of his. I'm still trying to pick up his work, I must be up in the hundreds now.
