I found this trunk in a garage sale and fell in love with it. I have no idea how old it is. If anybody knows anything about these kinds of trunks, please let me know.

If you get a magnifying glass and look real closely on the lock I believe you'll see a date. I believe it's early 1900s or before.
Michael
Lovely flat top trunk and as Michael pointed out it was made in the early 1900's. It is a common style of trunk for its time and many companies produced them so with no label difficult to know which company made yours. The date on the lock is the patent date of the lock itself which may have been produced for many years after. Style form and materials suggest the era from 1910 - 30 or thereabouts. Hope this helps!
There is no date on the lock. However, it is written "E. A. MAHON MONTREAL CANADA" I was able to find that it was built by the McBrine luggage company somewhere around 1915. Thanks a lot for your help!!

I cleaned the lock and found a number at the bottom. There is a 78 engraved on it.
