Just purchased today for $20. No idea of the name of the manufacturer. No tags or names on it. Would love opinions on maker, style of trunk & if it was a decent deal (not worth-per guidelines but would like to know of any websites that might help with that)

Hello, first of all , great deal, when I first started collecting, I would have paid that and more. Not putting down your trunk at all,but this is what I call a common trunk, meaning dozens if not hundreds of trunk makers made this style of trunk, and with out a label its impossible to say who made it. It is a cross slat design, top slats running from front to back, which was patented in 1880 by C.A. Taylor along with the slat clamps that should say mar 1880. Love the tin pattern I have two very similar. Probably made late 1890's to early 1900's up to 1920. You can type in antique trunks and come up with a host of web sites on trunks, HMS antique trunks and This old trunk are two very good places to start, they have good info, nice trunk, greendog.
