Is this a chisel? Too large to hold in one hand. Seems to be crafted from an entire tree, center grain. I use it for a doorstop, but really want to know what it is! Thanks.

I'm as interested as you to know what it is.
      I have no guess.
      Good luck!

Would be perfect for opening coconuts.

It is a home made splitter and the base appears to be a hat form. Bob

      Thanks so much!
Strange, but I saw another (but smaller) one in my community at one of their historic houses! No one there knew what it was, either! It was also being used as a doorstop!

So what does it split and how is it used? That hat form is only 5" in diameter and about 5 1/2" tall. Odd hat.

Sorry to interrupt, for this comment has nothing to do with your chisel. Had you procured the lidded "robin egg" blue Czech candied dish from that collector two years ago?

Wrong person. I have no knowledge of what you are referring to.

I'm still waiting for your questions to be answered as well UncleRon.
      Coconuts sounds reasonable to me.
