This decor in thea m. kaiserrot (also thea m. blau) was originally created by Franz Hofstötter for the Exhibition of Austrian Decorative Arts in 1911-1912. Hofstötter was best known for his award-winning designs executed for the Exhibition Universelle in Paris in 1900. Some of his Paris forms were resurrected for the Exhibition of Austrian Decorative Arts in 1911-1912, and it is reported in Loetz Bohemian Glass 1880-1940 (Cantz) that for this technically demanding execution, Hofstötter applied the Titania decoration himself. To create this decor, the trailed threads are separated into vertical bands with the use of a six-part rib optic mold.

Ausführung 118 has been found in several color combinations, but this is the first one I've seen in this particular configuration - königsgrün mit pensée (royal green with pansy). Invoice records indicate this shape, while not listed as a Hofstötter design, was (like the others) ordered for customer Ludwig Fränkel in Berlin. This decoration is probably some of the last work Hofstötter did for Loetz, as his name does not appear in company ledgers after 1912. Duna Panenková in Das Böhmisches Glas 1700-1950 (Band IV) calls this "undoubtedly one of the most interesting Titania (decors) produced by Loetz".
