You can find a 1912 advertisement for a similar trunk located on page 48 (just scroll down awhile. Virginia trunk and bag was one of multiple trunk manufacturers that made these style of three- ply veneer trunk.The image is a cut away section that speaks to it's construction, many were known as "Dress trunks". Drucker, Mendel, Seward trunk and bag, Roundtree, and many others made this popular style.Hope this helps a little bit It is a wonderful example of a bygone time period for travel.
